The handle is shaped with two tapers, meaning that it narrows toward the hand end. This shape has evolved and proven itself over the centuries. When in use, the taper triggers a reflex in the hand that keeps the handle from slipping away. This makes the rake easier to handle. Please note, however, that the rake is therefore not suitable for heavy work, such as digging over soil. Although it is not made exclusively from natural materials, it serves a practical and important purpose here. It is extremely sturdy, adjustable in stages, and built to withstand the toughest use.
