Material and construction
The wood is selected by the experienced rake maker. Years of experience are incorporated here, which mostly dates back to the time of our grandparents. The wood is dried for 3 years, so that the highest quality is achieved.
The rake handle
For centuries, basswood has been the first choice when it comes to rake handles. The handle is tapered in two places. This means that the handle narrows towards the hand. This shape has developed and proven itself over the centuries. This ensures better handling. The wood is very lightweight, fibrous and does not warp.
The rake yoke
Here, beechwood is used. The wood is harvested from local forests at a specific time. After that, it is slowly dried for approx. 3 years. Furthermore, it is important to use the wood in accordance with the grain.
The rake tines
The rake tines are made of ash wood. They are very sturdy, smooth and flexible.
The holder
For greater durability and stability, nylon was chosen for the material of the rake head holder on the handle. Although this is not exclusively naturally derived, it has a sensible and important use in this area. It is extremely sturdy, adjustable in steps and prepared for the toughest use. If you are looking for a rake made entirely of wood, take a look at our solid wood rakes.
